Metabolic Health Summit: Connecting chronic illness with longevity
Your exclusive one-day practitioner only summit reframing longevity in the context of metabolic health
Metabolic health is fundamentally linked to health span. It influences every body system, shaping not only how we feel today but how we age tomorrow. Metabolic dysfunction is a primary driver of a spectrum of chronic diseases which collectively account for the greatest burden of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
For the holistic clinician, increasing health span and vitality has always been a fundamental goal; and addressing metabolic dysfunction represents a profound opportunity to extend the years lived in optimal wellbeing.
In an era of supplement-driven protocols and quick-fix trends, there is a critical need to reframe longevity as a whole-system, person-centred clinical framework, rather than the endless pursuit of biohacking and longevity shortcuts.
The BioMedica Metabolic Health Summit bridges cutting-edge science with grassroots clinical realities. Across two streams and 12 dynamic sessions, the summit will explore how clinicians can deliver effective care for patients with chronic and complex metabolic health presentations, while laying the groundwork for long-term vitality.
Topics will span weight management, integrative cardiology, and the role of the microbiome in metabolic regulation. Practical sessions will consider clinical prioritisation, the patient experience, and sustainable business practises - ensuring that both patients and practitioners thrive.
We are proud to introduce your 2026 BioMedica Metabolic Health Summit speakers: a dynamic blend of integrative leaders bringing depth, diversity and real-world clinical wisdom.

While public interest in longevity is accelerating, most patients are not seeking “longevity protocols” when they visit a natural medicine clinic. Instead, they present with the realities of chronic illness – such as fatigue, pain or metabolic dysfunction, hoping to “feel well”.
For holistic clinicians, the concept of longevity therefore carries a different meaning. It is not a standalone concept, or an aspirational endpoint; rather, longevity becomes a natural byproduct of good healthcare. It is a natural outcome of treating the whole person and their chronic illness, addressing root causes, and empowering patients to increase health span.
In this short opening address Samuel will untangle the concept of health span and the role of longevity medicine in naturopathic practice. Delegates will be invited to approach the sessions ahead with a framework that holds tightly to the foundations of holistic health care, while embracing new evidence-based strategies that strengthen our clinical framework.
This session sets the stage for a day of learning that is scientifically rigorous, clinically practical, and intrinsically connected to the values of whole‑person care.
Presented by Samuel Peters
SESSION DESCRIPTION
Life repeatedly places roadblocks in front of you. You can see them as barriers or stepping stones to bigger and better things. Sadly, the one vocation in which politics should play no role has disappointed me over the last 4 decades. My professional career has been punctuated by vicious and pernicious complaints from fellow medical doctors, character assassination by media, one rule for me and another for everyone else by medical governing bodies, and duplicity on a grand scale.
Despite the rough journey, my mental health is good, I'm still doing what I love most. Friends and family have shown infatiguable loyalty, and fair-weathered friends have been culled.
By almost every metric, they have not killed me. They have made me stronger.
Presented by Dr Charlie Teo
SESSION DESCRIPTION
The rapid rise of GLP-1 receptor agonists – from type 2 diabetes management to mainstream weight-loss therapy – has been one of the most significant shifts in metabolic medicine in recent decades. With expanding indications and growing public uptake, these agents are now firmly embedded in clinical practice.
This two-part presentation focuses on GLP-1 receptor agonists through a foundational natural-health lens: the gut as a central regulator of metabolic response.
The discussion explores the bidirectional relationship between GLP-1 receptor agonists and the gut microbiome – examining not only how these agents may alter microbial composition and inflammatory signalling, but also how an individual’s baseline gut environment may influence therapeutic efficacy, tolerability, and clinical outcomes.
By integrating current research with real-world microbiome case data, these sessions aim to equip practitioners with a more nuanced, clinically relevant framework for supporting patients using – or considering – GLP-1 receptor agonists.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES
Describe current evidence on how GLP-1 receptor agonists may influence gut microbiome composition and function
Explain the downstream anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects associated with GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy
Evaluate emerging research on the role of the gut microbiome in modulating GLP-1 receptor agonist efficacy
Identify potential opportunities for natural health practitioners to support therapeutic outcomes through gut-focused interventions
Presented by Wendy Burke

STREAM A
Reframing the patient experience in metabolic health
Presented by Robert Claridge
SESSION DESCRIPTION
Our modern world presents increasingly complex health challenges. Traditional “disease-model” approaches, funded through our healthcare system, often fall short of addressing the root causes and full scope of these issues. What is needed is a new strategy - one that not only alleviates symptoms but also identifies underlying causes and empowers patients to take an active role in their own healing. Naturopathic philosophy offers a guiding framework, but today’s clinicians require practical, modern tools to translate this philosophy into effective care.
In this session, experienced clinician Robert Claridge will share strategies to help practitioners navigate complex cases with confidence and clarity. He will present systems-oriented treatment protocols designed to address both underlying causes and immediate relief, alongside key approaches to sustain patient engagement and motivation.
With these tools, you will be able to build a practice that delivers meaningful outcomes for your patients while also providing professional satisfaction and growth.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES
Confidently navigate complex cases with a systems-based approach
Design protocols that address both root causes and symptom relief
Sustain patient motivation and empower self-healing
Apply modern, practical strategies rooted in Naturopathic philosophy
Implement actionable tools and frameworks for effective, outcome-focused care

Cracking the code: Clinical strategies that actually work in midlife weight management
Presented by Heather Musgrove
SESSION DESCRIPTION
As natural medicine practitioners we are the best qualified and best suited to supporting clients in the weight management place. Not being up to date and proactive in this space is ignoring a huge cohort of often desperate, motivated, and often price insensitive clients who are anxious to prevent and reverse chronic disease. All they want is your help and measurable outcomes.
In my practice over the last 5 years I have gone from dreading another weight loss client to looking at my diary and seeing a weight loss client as ‘break’ from the hard slog of one-on-one consultations. Why? Because we have the tools to ensure their success and their visit will be a positive and easy to manage consultation.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES
In this session delegates will learn;
How we assess and motivate these clients
Tools and programs we use to assist achieve their goals
How we monitor progress
Supplements we use and why
Common pitfalls and how to resolve them
Why our retention rate and success is so high and how we keep clients for life
Case studies of our strategies and why we do not use one program fits all approach.
Why this is the easiest way to improve client outcomes and clinic revenues long term
STREAM A
Practice longevity: How to scale personalised metabolic care without burning out
Presented by Rebekah Jones
SESSION DESCRIPTION
Most practitioners aren’t struggling with clinical skills - they’re struggling with a model that makes great care hard to deliver consistently, without burning out.
This session helps clinicians rethink how they structure and deliver care, moving beyond the traditional “time-for-money” model into one that supports both business longevity and patient transformation - allowing practitioners to build a sustainable business while providing deeply personalised healthcare for clients with metabolic or other chronic health presentations.
Rather than focusing on theory, this talk provides actionable frameworks for practitioners to build businesses that are both financially stable and clinically effective.
While I’ll reference a clinical example to illustrate the process, the talk is built around replicable principles - helping practitioners evolve how they deliver care, not what they prescribe.
“It’s not just what you do that determines your success; it’s how you deliver it.”
This session aims to highlight how structured, evidence-based systems that improve patient outcomes can also safeguard the practitioner’s wellbeing and business growth.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES
Understand how structured, systems-based care supports better outcomes in metabolic health.
Recognise practical ways to integrate personalised prescriptions within scalable yet individualised programs.
Identify opportunities to digitise and automate key parts of their workflow to save time and reduce burnout.
See how “personalisation at scale” preserves the art of holistic medicine while enhancing reach, consistency, and sustainability.
Increase client retention and adherence in chronic and metabolic conditions
STREAM B
